Our History

The Church of Grace and Resurrection

The Episcopal Church of Grace and Resurrection is a lively and welcoming Episcopal church formed in 2016 through the joining of The Church of Resurrection, East Elmhurst and Grace Episcopal Church, Corona. Grace Church was deconsecrated by the Rt. Rev. Lawrence Provenzano on December 15, 2015. The first service of the combined congregations was held on Sunday, June 7, 2016, led by the interim priest The Rev. Gilberto A. Hinds.

Members worked diligently under the ministry of the Rev. Hinds to become one congregation in union with Christ. On May 16, 2016, The church was incorporated in the State of NY and in the Diocese of Long Island.

The Episcopal Church of Grace and Resurrection continues to grow in numbers and in Spirit. We have weathered the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, and deepen our commitment to faith and service. In September 2023, Grace and Resurrection called The Rev. Jean-Pierre Seguin as its first Priest-in-Charge.

Coming from a variety of places and cultures, we unite in our Christian faith and seek to be a beacon of hope, healing, and connection in our community. Drawing on our deep roots, we are discerning how God is calling us to witness today.
