Our Community

East Elmhurst is the physical and cultural gateway to New York City with the new and modern 21st Century style, LaGuardia Airport. As a thriving middle class community noted for its rich history and culture, it offers opportunities for growth in Spirituality, Culture, Education, Recreation and Business. We are strategically positioned with accessibility to major highways to easily travel around NYC, such as, The Jackie Robinson Parkway (aka Interboro Parkway), The Whitestone Bridge, The Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (aka The Triboro Bridge) and The Throgs Neck Bridge. The local public transportation is also accessible to all train stations and bus routes.

East Elmhurst encompasses the Langston Hughes Cultural Center, Elmcor Youth and Adult Center, and is only minutes away from Citifield: Home of the NY Mets, The World's Fair Marina, The Museum of Science, Flushing Meadow Park, and Arthur Ashe Stadiums. It is also home to the distinctive Vaughn College (aka School of Aeronautics), Louis Armstrong Middle School (IS 227), Harry T. Stewart School (PS 92), Ivan Lafayette School (PS 228) and the Aerospace Science Magnet School (PS 127).

Our community was also home to renowned trumpeter, Louis Armstrong, and Civil Rights Activist, Malcolm X. Two renowned Jazz musicians Jimmy Heath (saxophonist) and Clark Terry (trumpeter).  Also World Champion Mets players, Tommy Agee and Ed Charles, (1969).

The beautiful homes and various architectures along the way, make you feel a greater presence of community. We are filled with excitement and joy at the possibilities that Grace and Resurrection will continue to be of service to this diverse community. With great humility and tremendous gratitude, it is our hope and prayer that we will continue to develop more sustainable programs to assist people of all ages, and to provide a Spiritual place to call home.
